  1. Provide musical accompaniment for a variety of dance classes and rehearsals at the University of Southern California.
  2. Collaborate with a diverse group of students and faculty to enhance the dance learning experience through music.
  3. Demonstrate a strong understanding of various dance styles and techniques in order to effectively accompany dancers.
  4. Possess exceptional musical ability and proficiency in playing a variety of musical instruments.
  5. Create and maintain a collaborative and supportive environment for students and faculty during dance classes and rehearsals.
  6. Prepare and select appropriate music for each dance class or rehearsal, taking into consideration the level and style of the dancers.
  7. Communicate effectively with dancers and instructors to ensure a smooth and efficient rehearsal process.
  8. Continuously seek ways to improve and enhance the musical accompaniment for dance classes and rehearsals.
  9. Adhere to all University policies and procedures, including punctuality and professionalism.
  10. Act as a positive role model for students and uphold the University's values of diversity, inclusivity, and excellence in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Musical Training And Proficiency In Multiple Instruments, Particularly Piano And Percussion.

  • Demonstrated Experience As A Dance Accompanist, Including Working With A Variety Of Styles And Levels From Beginner To Professional.

  • Ability To Read And Adapt To Different Dance Notation Systems, Such As Labanotation Or Benesh Movement Notation.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Take Direction From Choreographers And Work Closely With Dancers.

  • Knowledge Of Dance History And Terminology, As Well As Experience With Improvisation And Composition To Support And Enhance Dance Classes.
