As a Patient Access Rep, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care from the moment they enter our doors.   1. Greet and welcome patients as they enter the Emergency Department.
  2. Register patients and verify insurance information accurately and efficiently.
  3. Collect and process patient payments and assist with financial arrangements.
  4. Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to ensure timely and efficient care.
  5. Assist patients with completing necessary forms and obtaining required documentation.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  7. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient care.
  9. Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers.
  10. Educate patients on their rights and responsibilities as well as available resources.
  11. Keep up-to-date with changes in healthcare regulations and policies.
  12. Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
  13. Provide exceptional customer service and address patient concerns and complaints.
  14. Attend trainings and meetings to stay updated on department protocols and procedures.
  15. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  16. Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Access Rep-Ed At Usc Should Possess Outstanding Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals In A Fast-Paced Emergency Department Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: Knowledge And Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Crucial For A Patient Access Rep-Ed To Accurately Collect And Enter Patient Information, Verify Insurance Coverage, And Assist With Medical Billing And Coding.

  • Customer Service Experience: Usc Values Exceptional Customer Service, And A Patient Access Rep-Ed Should Have Previous Experience In A Customer-Facing Role. This Includes The Ability To Handle Difficult Situations With Patience, Empathy, And Professionalism.

  • Attention To Detail: The Role Of A Patient Access Rep-Ed Involves Processing And Verifying A Large Amount Of Patient Information. Therefore, Attention To Detail Is Essential To Ensure Accuracy And Prevent Errors In Patient Records And Billing.

  • Computer Proficiency: Usc Uses Various Computer Systems And Software For Patient Registration, Insurance Verification, And Billing. A Patient Access Rep-Ed Should Have Proficiency In Using These Systems And Be Able To Adapt Quickly To New Technology.
