- Ensure the safety and security of the campus community by patrolling designated areas, responding to emergency calls, and enforcing campus policies and regulations.
- Engage with students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional and respectful manner, providing assistance and support as needed.
- Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and crimes, gathering evidence and filing accurate reports.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the University Police force, as well as local law enforcement agencies, to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Provide proactive crime prevention strategies and programs to educate the campus community on safety and security measures.
- Monitor and respond to security alarms and surveillance systems, ensuring any issues or malfunctions are promptly addressed.
- Attend and participate in training and professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to daily activities, incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Serve as a role model for ethical and professional conduct, upholding the values and standards of the University of Rhode Island.
- Foster a diverse and inclusive campus community by treating all individuals with respect and promoting a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience As A Police Officer, Preferably In A University Or Higher Education Setting.
Valid Certification As A Police Officer In The State Of Rhode Island.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Diverse Populations.
Strong Knowledge Of And Ability To Enforce State And Federal Laws, As Well As University Policies And Procedures.
