We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team at the University of Rhode Island as an Associate or Full Professor/Chair in Professional and Public Writing. As the leader of our program, you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of our curriculum and guide the development of our students.   1. Develop and lead the curriculum for the Professional and Public Writing program at the University of Rhode Island.
  2. Mentor and provide guidance to students in the program, helping them develop their writing skills and prepare for successful careers.
  3. Foster a diverse and inclusive learning environment for students from various backgrounds and cultures.
  4. Collaborate with other faculty members to continuously improve the program and adapt to changing industry trends and needs.
  5. Conduct research and stay updated on the latest developments in the field of professional and public writing, incorporating this knowledge into the curriculum.
  6. Oversee the recruitment and retention of students in the program, actively promoting the program to potential students and helping them navigate the application process.
  7. Provide leadership and guidance to other faculty members in the program, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative team dynamic.
  8. Represent the program and the University at relevant conferences, events, and meetings, promoting the program's successes and building partnerships with other institutions and organizations.
  9. Evaluate and assess the program's effectiveness and make necessary changes to ensure student success and program growth.
  10. Contribute to the overall academic community at the University of Rhode Island, participating in departmental and university-wide initiatives and committees.

Job Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree In Professional And Technical Communication, Rhetoric And Composition, Or A Related Field.

  • Extensive Teaching Experience In Professional And Public Writing, Including Courses In Technical Writing, Business Writing, And/Or Writing For The Public.

  • Proven Record Of Scholarship, Including Publications In Top-Tier Journals And Presentations At National Conferences.

  • Demonstrated Leadership And Administrative Skills, With Experience Serving As A Department Chair Or Program Director Preferred.

  • Commitment To Community Engagement And Service, With A Track Record Of Collaborating With Industry Partners And Community Organizations.
