- Develop and implement a comprehensive research communication strategy to highlight the innovative work of the faculty and researchers at the University of Pittsburgh.
- Write engaging and informative content, including press releases, articles, and social media posts, to promote research initiatives and achievements.
- Edit and review research-related materials for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Collaborate with faculty and researchers to ensure their work is accurately and effectively communicated to various audiences.
- Stay up-to-date on current research trends and developments in order to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to non-expert audiences.
- Utilize various communication channels, such as the university website, newsletters, and media outlets, to disseminate research findings and promote the university's research initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of the university's research efforts, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance the university's reputation.
- Work closely with the Communications and Marketing team to align research communications with the overall brand and messaging of the university.
- Plan and execute events, such as press conferences and media interviews, to showcase the university's research achievements.
- Serve as a liaison between the research community and the media, and respond to media inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, media outlets, and community partners, to enhance the university's research communications.
- Contribute to the development of marketing and promotional materials to support research initiatives and attract top talent to the university.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and new tools and technologies to improve the university's research communications.
- Act as an ambassador for the university's research community, promoting the university's research accomplishments and impact to a wide range of audiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the university's overall mission and goals, and actively participate in team meetings and projects.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Research Communication Or Science Writing, Preferably In A University Or Research Institution Setting.
Strong Writing And Editing Skills, With The Ability To Translate Complex Scientific Information Into Clear And Engaging Content For A Non-Technical Audience.
Experience With Various Communication Channels, Including Social Media, Email Marketing, And Website Content Management.
Knowledge Of Research Methodologies And The Ability To Work Closely With Researchers To Accurately Convey Their Findings To The Public.
