- Develop and implement radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of campus facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards.
- Perform radiation surveys and monitor radiation levels to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other university departments to develop and deliver training programs on radiation safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all radiation safety activities.
- Stay updated on current regulations and guidelines related to radiation safety and make recommendations for program improvements.
- Conduct investigations and report any incidents or violations in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance and support to university staff and students on radiation safety procedures and best practices.
- Participate in emergency response drills and provide assistance during actual emergencies.
- Collaborate with external agencies and organizations to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of radiation detection equipment.
- Assist in the procurement and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the university community to promote a culture of safety and awareness surrounding radiation hazards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on radiation safety for the university.
- Attend training and professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills in the field of radiation safety.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Physics, Physics, Or A Related Field.
At Least 3 Years Of Experience In Radiation Protection And Safety.
Certification From The American Board Of Health Physics (Abhp).
Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations And Guidelines Related To Radiation Safety.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Assess And Mitigate Potential Radiation Hazards.
