  1. Maintain and manage the University of Pittsburgh's database at the Hillman Cancer Center Research Facility (HSCRF) PBC.
  2. Ensure the security and integrity of the database by implementing necessary security measures and performing regular backups.
  3. Optimize database performance by monitoring system resources, identifying and resolving performance issues, and implementing performance tuning techniques.
  4. Collaborate with research teams to understand their data management needs and provide technical support for database-related projects.
  5. Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
  7. Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and make recommendations for database upgrades or enhancements.
  8. Work closely with the IT team to ensure database compatibility with other systems and applications.
  9. Train and support end-users on database usage and best practices.
  10. Continuously monitor and improve database security, accessibility, and efficiency.
  11. Collaborate with other database administrators and IT professionals to share knowledge and best practices.
  12. Maintain data quality and accuracy by performing regular data audits and implementing data validation processes.
  13. Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the database.
  14. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including researchers, IT staff, and management, to provide updates on database performance and any issues that may arise.
  15. Adhere to all data privacy and compliance regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR, in relation to database management.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Information Technology, Or Related Field

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Database Administration And Management

  • Strong Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills To Troubleshoot And Resolve Database Issues
