  1. Provide daily care and welfare for a variety of animals housed at the University of Pittsburgh.
  2. Follow all standard operating procedures and protocols for the handling, feeding, and cleaning of animals.
  3. Monitor and report any changes in animal behavior or health to the appropriate supervisor.
  4. Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding, cleaning, and any medical treatments.
  5. Ensure that all animal housing and equipment are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
  6. Assist with the breeding and colony management of animals as needed.
  7. Collaborate with other team members to ensure the well-being and safety of all animals.
  8. Participate in the training of new team members and provide guidance to volunteers and interns.
  9. Adhere to all safety and ethical standards related to animal care and use.
  10. Continuously strive to improve animal care practices and suggest innovative ideas to enhance animal welfare.
  11. Stay up-to-date with current research and advancements in animal care techniques.
  12. Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards animals, colleagues, and visitors at all times.
  13. Represent the University of Pittsburgh in a positive light and promote our commitment to animal welfare.
  14. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of the animal care facility.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working With Animals In A Research Or Clinical Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Animal Behavior, Handling Techniques, And Basic Medical Procedures.

  • Ability To Lift And Move Up To 50 Pounds And Stand For Extended Periods Of Time.

  • Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively In A Team Environment.
