- Supervise and lead a team of veterinary oncology nurses, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Ensure high quality and compassionate care for animal patients undergoing cancer treatment, following established protocols and procedures.
- Manage the scheduling and coordination of veterinary oncology nurses, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient use of resources.
- Serve as a resource for the veterinary oncology team, providing expertise and support in the areas of patient care, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies, medications, and equipment related to veterinary oncology care, ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Oversee the training and development of new veterinary oncology nurses, ensuring they are properly equipped to provide exceptional care to patients.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, oncologists, and other members of the veterinary team to develop and implement treatment plans for animal patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, medications, and progress notes.
- Educate and communicate with pet owners about their animal's diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
- Stay informed about new advancements and research in the field of veterinary oncology, incorporating best practices into patient care.
- Uphold and promote the values and mission of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and foster a positive and collaborative work environment for the veterinary oncology team.
Bachelor's Degree In Veterinary Technology Or A Related Field, With A Focus On Oncology Nursing.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience Working In A Veterinary Oncology Setting, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Various Cancer Treatments And Protocols, As Well As Experience Administering And Monitoring These Treatments.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team And Collaborate With Other Departments.
Certification As A Veterinary Technician Specialist In Oncology (Vts-Oncology) Preferred, Or Willingness To Obtain Certification Within 1 Year Of Hire.
