Job Description

  1. Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities for campers.
  2. Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment by promoting teamwork, respect, and diversity.
  3. Build and maintain meaningful relationships with campers, counselors, and staff.
  4. Serve as a role model and mentor to campers, promoting positive behavior and character development.
  5. Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
  6. Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff regarding camp activities, schedules, and any concerns.
  7. Follow and enforce all camp policies and procedures.
  8. Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
  9. Assist in the planning and execution of camp events and special activities.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized camp environment.
  11. Collaborate with other counselors and staff to create a cohesive and supportive team.
  12. Be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of campers and the camp program.
  13. Serve as a positive ambassador for the University of Pennsylvania summer camp program.
  14. Act as a positive role model and adhere to the camp's code of conduct.
  15. Continuously strive to create a fun, safe, and enriching experience for all campers.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience Working With Children: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working With Children, Whether It Be Through Previous Summer Camp Experience, Tutoring, Babysitting, Or Volunteer Work. This Shows That They Are Comfortable And Capable Of Interacting With Children Of Various Ages And Backgrounds.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: As A Camp Counselor, The Individual Will Be Responsible For Leading Activities And Managing A Group Of Campers. Therefore, The Candidate Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Communicate Effectively, Delegate Tasks, And Handle Conflicts.

  • Knowledge Of Outdoor Activities: The University Of Pennsylvania Offers A Variety Of Outdoor Activities At Their Summer Camp, Such As Hiking, Swimming, And Team Sports. Candidates Should Have Experience And Knowledge In These Areas, As Well As A Passion For The Outdoors And Promoting An Active Lifestyle.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: Safety Is A Top Priority At Summer Camps, And The University Of Pennsylvania Requires All Camp Counselors To Be Cpr And First Aid Certified. This Ensures That The Counselors Are Prepared To Handle Any Emergencies That May Arise During Camp Activities.
