Job Description

Welcome to the University of Pennsylvania library team! We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. As a Library Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our patrons and promoting a positive and welcoming environment in our library. We are looking for someone with a passion for knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a strong attention to detail.   1. Greet and assist patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting with library resources.
  3. Maintain a welcoming and organized environment in the library.
  4. Assist patrons with locating materials and using library equipment.
  5. Process new library material and prepare it for circulation.
  6. Communicate library policies and procedures to patrons.
  7. Monitor and enforce library rules and handle any disruptive behavior appropriately.
  8. Handle financial transactions, such as collecting fines and fees.
  9. Assist with the maintenance and organization of library collections.
  10. Collaborate with other library staff to plan and implement programs and events.
  11. Keep accurate records of library usage and statistics.
  12. Stay up-to-date on library resources and services in order to effectively assist patrons.
  13. Troubleshoot any issues with library equipment and report any malfunctions.
  14. Assist with opening and closing procedures for the library.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the library manager or supervisor.
