  1. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the University's controls systems in order to ensure optimal functionality.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair any issues that arise with the controls systems, utilizing technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  3. Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to implement upgrades and improvements to the controls systems.
  4. Monitor and analyze data from the controls systems to identify potential problems or areas for improvement.
  5. Develop and maintain documentation for all controls systems, including schematics, operation manuals, and maintenance records.
  6. Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and efficiency of the controls systems.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and technological developments in order to suggest and implement innovative solutions for the University's controls systems.
  8. Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on controls systems.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly storing tools and equipment after each use.
  11. Provide training and guidance to other team members and staff on the proper use and maintenance of controls systems.
  12. Take accountability for completing tasks and projects within established timelines and budgets.
  13. Collaborate with external vendors and contractors when necessary to ensure proper installation and maintenance of controls systems.
  14. Participate in on-call rotation for urgent repairs and emergencies.
  15. Continuously seek ways to improve and optimize the performance of the controls systems to meet the needs of the University.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Building Automation Systems (Bas): Candidates For The Controls Technician Position At University Of Pennsylvania Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Bas And Its Components, Including Sensors, Actuators, Controllers, And Software.

  • Knowledge Of Hvac Systems: A Strong Understanding Of Heating, Ventilation, And Air Conditioning (Hvac) Systems Is Essential For This Role As The Controls Technician Will Be Responsible For Maintaining And Troubleshooting These Systems.

  • Electrical And Mechanical Skills: The Ability To Read And Interpret Electrical And Mechanical Schematics, As Well As Troubleshoot And Repair Electrical And Mechanical Equipment, Is Crucial For This Position.

  • Familiarity With Energy Management Principles: The University Of Pennsylvania Is Committed To Sustainability And Energy Efficiency. As Such, Candidates Should Have Knowledge Of Energy Management Principles And Be Able To Implement Energy-Saving Strategies.
