  1. Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for the University Police Department.
  2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, including patrol, investigations, and crime prevention.
  3. Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, as well as university regulations.
  4. Foster a culture of community policing, building positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  5. Manage a team of officers and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  6. Develop and maintain partnerships with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
  7. Utilize data and analytics to identify trends and develop proactive crime prevention strategies.
  8. Collaborate with university administration and departments to ensure a safe and secure campus environment.
  9. Serve as a liaison between the university and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  10. Manage and oversee the department budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  11. Respond to and manage critical incidents and emergencies on campus.
  12. Conduct regular audits and reviews of department policies, procedures, and practices.
  13. Represent the university at community events and meetings related to campus safety and security.
  14. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in law enforcement and campus safety.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of the University of Pennsylvania in all aspects of the role.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Law Enforcement Experience: The Ideal Candidate For The Chief Of Police Position At University Of Pennsylvania Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Law Enforcement, With A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing Complex Operations And Personnel.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: The Chief Of Police Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Large Team Of Officers And Staff, As Well As Managing Relationships With Other Departments And Stakeholders. As Such, They Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Inspire And Motivate Their Team Towards Achieving The Department's Goals.

  • Knowledge Of Campus Security And Safety: The University Of Pennsylvania Is A Large And Diverse Campus, With Unique Security And Safety Concerns. The Chief Of Police Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Campus Security Operations And Be Able To Develop And Implement Effective Strategies To Keep The Campus Safe.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: In Addition To Managing Internal Operations, The Chief Of Police Will Also Act As A Liaison Between The Department And The University Community. As Such, They Should Have Excellent Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With A Diverse Group Of Stakeholders.

  • Knowledge Of Local Laws And Regulations: The Chief Of Police Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Local, State, And Federal Laws, As Well As Regulations Related To Law Enforcement And Campus Safety. This Will Ensure That The Department Operates In Compliance With All Applicable Laws And Regulations.
