- Develop and oversee the undergraduate biology curriculum, ensuring it meets the standards and goals of the department and university.
- Collaborate with faculty and other departmental staff to continuously improve the undergraduate biology program.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate students on academic and career goals, providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
- Manage and supervise undergraduate biology courses, including scheduling, staffing, and ensuring quality instruction.
- Work with faculty to develop and implement innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance the learning experience for students.
- Serve as a liaison between the department and other university departments, committees, and organizations to promote the undergraduate biology program.
- Recruit and retain high-quality undergraduate students, by participating in admissions events and developing outreach programs.
- Oversee the assessment and evaluation of undergraduate biology courses and programs, making necessary adjustments to improve student learning outcomes.
- Stay current with advancements in the field of biology and incorporate them into the undergraduate curriculum.
- Assist in the development and management of the department's budget for undergraduate programs.
- Participate in departmental meetings and serve on committees related to undergraduate education.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Represent the department at conferences and events to promote the undergraduate biology program and network with other professionals.
- Handle student inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to the undergraduate biology program.
- Collaborate with the Career Services department to provide resources and support for undergraduate students pursuing careers in biology.
A Phd In Biology Or A Related Field, With A Strong Background In Undergraduate Education And Curriculum Development.
A Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Teaching And Advising Undergraduate Students In A University Setting.
Demonstrated Leadership Skills And Experience In Managing And Coordinating A Team Of Faculty And Staff.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Students, Faculty, And Other Stakeholders.
Extensive Knowledge Of The Penn Department Of Biology Curriculum And A Clear Understanding Of The Academic And Administrative Processes Within The Department.
