- Provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students to support their academic success and retention.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify at-risk students and develop interventions to improve their academic performance.
- Stay up-to-date on university policies and procedures related to academic advising and retention.
- Organize and facilitate workshops and information sessions to educate students on academic resources and strategies for success.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records to track academic progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Serve as a resource for students seeking information on academic support services, such as tutoring and study skills workshops.
- Collaborate with other academic advisors and departments to coordinate academic support initiatives and ensure consistency in advising practices.
- Stay informed on current trends and best practices in academic advising and retention to continuously improve and enhance services for students.
- Participate in orientation and other events to welcome and acclimate new students to the academic services offered by the university.
- Assist with the development and implementation of retention strategies and programs to improve student success.
- Attend and participate in department meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in working with students and their academic records.
- Act as a liaison between students and faculty/staff to address any academic concerns or issues.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Services.
Master's Degree In Counseling, Higher Education, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Academic Advising Or Student Retention Within A University Setting.
Knowledge Of Academic Programs And Requirements Within The School Of Engineering And Applied Science.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Advise And Support Students From Diverse Backgrounds.
Ability To Use Data And Analytics To Identify At-Risk Students And Develop Strategies For Retention And Academic Success.
