Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking a highly qualified Assistant/Associate Professor to join our surgery team in the field of Surgical Oncology.   1. Provide expert surgical care to patients with cancer, including pre-operative evaluation, surgical procedures, and post-operative follow-up.
  2. Conduct cutting-edge research in the field of surgical oncology, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and advancing the field.
  3. Develop and implement educational programs for medical students and surgical residents, including didactic lectures, hands-on training, and mentorship.
  4. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and techniques in surgical oncology and incorporate them into practice and teaching.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  6. Participate in departmental and institutional committees and activities, and contribute to the overall growth and development of the surgical oncology program.
  7. Serve as a role model for medical students and residents, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and dedication to patient care.
  8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, research activities, and teaching responsibilities.
  9. Participate in scholarly activities, such as publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards, including compliance with institutional policies and procedures and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  11. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth, including attending conferences and workshops and pursuing additional certifications or training.
  12. Act as a liaison between the University and local hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare organizations to promote collaboration and enhance patient care.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: The Candidate Must Possess A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.

  • Board Certification: The Candidate Should Be Board Certified Or Eligible In Surgery And Surgical Oncology. This Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise And Competency In The Field.

  • Fellowship Training: The Candidate Should Have Completed A Fellowship In Surgical Oncology From An Accredited Institution. This Specialized Training Prepares The Candidate For The Complex And Unique Challenges Of Surgical Oncology.

  • Academic Experience: The Candidate Should Have Experience Teaching And Mentoring Medical Students, Residents, And Fellows. This Is Important For An Academic Position At A University.
