  1. Provide academic and personal guidance to students in order to support their overall success and development.
  2. Build strong relationships with students in order to understand their individual needs and goals.
  3. Stay up-to-date on all university programs and resources in order to effectively advise students.
  4. Collaborate with other advisors, faculty, and staff to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive support system for students.
  5. Assist students in creating academic plans and selecting courses that align with their goals.
  6. Monitor students' progress and intervene when necessary to address academic, personal, or other challenges.
  7. Organize and facilitate workshops and events to educate students about available resources and opportunities.
  8. Stay informed on current trends and issues in higher education in order to provide relevant and effective guidance to students.
  9. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
  10. Serve as a liaison between students and other campus departments, advocating for students' needs and concerns.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve advising methods and strategies to better serve students.
  12. Support student retention efforts by identifying and addressing potential barriers to success.
  13. Collaborate with other advisors and departments to develop and implement programs and initiatives that support student success.
  14. Maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of background or identity.
  15. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and knowledge.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Education, Student Affairs, Or Counseling.

  • Previous Experience Working In Student Programming Or Advisor Roles, Preferably In A Higher Education Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of University Of Michigan Policies And Procedures Related To Student Programs And Activities.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Advise And Mentor Students From Diverse Backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Plan And Execute Successful Student Programs, Events, And Initiatives.
