  1. Conduct radiation therapy treatment planning for cancer patients using advanced treatment planning software.
  2. Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop customized treatment plans for each patient.
  3. Ensure accuracy and precision in dose calculations and treatment delivery.
  4. Verify patient positioning and monitor treatment progress to maintain optimal treatment outcomes.
  5. Maintain knowledge of current radiation therapy techniques and technology.
  6. Continuously review and improve treatment planning processes to enhance patient care.
  7. Communicate treatment plans and recommendations to the treatment team, including radiation therapists and nurses.
  8. Provide patient education and support regarding radiation therapy procedures and potential side effects.
  9. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  10. Participate in quality assurance measures and assist with data collection for research projects.
  11. Keep detailed records and documentation of treatment plans and patient progress.
  12. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities.
  13. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the radiation oncology team.
  14. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the University of Kentucky and the Radiation Oncology department.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Dosimetry Or Related Field: The Dosimetrist Clinical Position At University Of Kentucky Requires A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Dosimetry Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Practices Of Medical Dosimetry.

  • Certification By The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (Mdcb): The Mdcb Certification Is A Nationally Recognized Standard For Dosimetrists And Is Required For This Position At University Of Kentucky. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Competency In The Field Of Medical Dosimetry.

  • Experience With Treatment Planning Systems: The Dosimetrist Clinical Role At University Of Kentucky Requires Experience With Treatment Planning Systems Such As Eclipse, Pinnacle, Or Raystation. These Systems Are Commonly Used In Radiation Therapy Planning, And A Candidate With Experience In These Systems Will Be Better Equipped To Handle The Job Responsibilities.

  • Knowledge Of Radiation Therapy Treatment Techniques: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Radiation Therapy Treatment Techniques, Including 3D-Crt, Imrt, And Vmat. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Creating Accurate Treatment Plans And Ensuring The Best Possible Outcomes For Patients.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: As A Member Of The Radiation Therapy Team, The Dosimetrist Clinical Must Have Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills. This Includes Effectively Communicating With Radiation Oncologists And Other Team Members, As Well As Collaborating On Treatment Plans And Providing Support To Other Team Members When Needed.
