Job Description

Data collection for select patient populations and/or publicly reported metrics through the application of national registries requirements and/or publicly reported metric specifications. Establishes reliable and efficient processes for the collection of data components from the electronic medical record. Identifies performance improvement opportunities based on registry and/or publicly reported metric information. Applies performance improvement principles to improve patient outcomes. Consults with senior QIP staff, nurses, physicians, and other UIHC staff members to evaluate and improve patient outcomes. Maintain knowledge on the metric specifications, and the evidence-based standards that are incorporated into the metrics, and collaborates with clinicians to integrate recommendations into practice. Accurately tracks compliance variances and reports results to clinicians in a real time basis.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of related experience with data abstraction and/or analysis of clinical data.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical record, including reporting functions.

  • A Master’s degree in health-related field or informatics preferred

  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
