
Student Disability Specialist
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) is looking for an experienced and dedicated Student Disability Specialist to join our Student Accessibility Services team. This individual will be responsible for providing support and accommodations for students with disabilities to ensure their success.The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Special Education, Disability Studies, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; at least two years of experience working with students with disabilities in a college or university setting; and a strong commitment to advocating for and promoting equitable access to education. They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to develop successful relationships with students, staff, and faculty with a high level of professionalism.The Student Disability Specialist will handle a wide range of duties, including the coordination of accommodations, evaluation of documentation, and collaboration with other campus partners to ensure that students with disabilities have the resources and support they need to succeed. As part of a dynamic team, the Student Disability Specialist will bring enthusiasm and passion for their work and a commitment to advocating for students with disabilities in an inclusive and equitable environment.
Responsibilities of the Student Disability Specialist:
• Evaluate documentation to determine reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities • Coordinate accommodations with students, faculty, and staff • Develop and maintain successful relationships with students, faculty, and staff • Collaborate with other campus partners to ensure students with disabilities have access to resources and support • Advocate for students with disabilities in an equitable and inclusive environment • Maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of accommodations • Stay informed of current laws, regulations, and best practices regarding disability services
