Job Description

The University of California, Riverside is seeking a highly skilled Plant Operator to join our Facilities team. As the Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the campus’s mechanical and electrical power plants. You will ensure that the plant operates efficiently and safely, while providing reliable power for the university’s buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering, and experience in power plant operations. Our ideal candidate will also be safety minded, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities for this position include:

  1. Operate mechanical and electrical power plants on a daily basis, ensuring that they operate efficiently and safely.
  2. Monitor and adjust plant operations to ensure reliable power for the university’s buildings and facilities.
  3. Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on the power plants.
  4. Maintain records of plant operations and energy consumption.
  5. Work with other Facilities team members to coordinate plant operations and ensure safety.
  6. Comply with all safety regulations and policies.
  7. Coordinate with other departments to plan and implement projects related to plant operations.
  8. Monitor and manage plant budgets and cost projections.
  9. Respond to emergency situations as required.
