Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Graduate Student Advising at the University of California, Riverside to provide guidance and support to graduate students throughout their educational journey. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge and experience in higher education, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for helping students reach their academic and professional goals. The Director of Graduate Student Advising will be a leader and mentor to both students and staff and will provide strategic direction and oversight to the graduate advising team. The successful candidate must be committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment for all graduate students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive advising strategies to support graduate students in their academic and professional pursuits.
  2. Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate students throughout their educational journey.
  3. Establish an inclusive and nurturing environment for graduate students.
  4. Lead, supervise, and mentor the graduate student advising team.
  5. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of advising programs and services.
  6. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure graduate student success.
  7. Develop and implement initiatives to foster student engagement and success.
  8. Organize and facilitate workshops, trainings, and other events to promote student growth.
  9. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in higher education.
  10. Stay abreast of university policies and procedures related to graduate student advising.
