Job Description

Are you passionate about teaching others to swim and love working with people of all ages? The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Swim Lesson Instructor to join our team. As a member of our Aquatics Department, you will have the opportunity to share your love of swimming with students, faculty, and community members. We are looking for individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as relevant experience and certifications.   1. Conduct swim lessons for students, faculty, and community members of all ages and skill levels.
  2. Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the goals and objectives of the Aquatics Department.
  3. Provide a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring proper use of equipment and following safety protocols.
  4. Assess individual abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly to maximize learning and progress.
  5. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding lesson schedules, progress, and any concerns.
  6. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and certifications for all participants.
  7. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in swim instruction.
  8. Collaborate with other instructors and Aquatics Department staff to ensure a seamless and high-quality experience for all participants.
  9. Adhere to all university and department policies and procedures.
  10. Represent UC Berkeley and the Aquatics Department in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Certification In Cpr And First Aid.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Teaching Swim Lessons To Individuals Or Groups Of Varying Ages And Skill Levels.

  • Proficiency In Basic Water Safety And Rescue Techniques.

  • Knowledge Of Different Swim Strokes And Ability To Effectively Teach Them.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Groups Of Students.
