- Develop and implement innovative menus and dining concepts that align with the mission and values of the University of California, Berkeley.
- Lead and mentor a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food production and exceptional customer service.
- Oversee the daily operations of multiple dining establishments on campus, including menu planning, food preparation, and inventory management.
- Maintain a high standard of food safety and sanitation in all kitchen and dining areas, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments on campus to create special event menus and catered meals for university functions.
- Monitor food costs and ensure that all dining establishments operate within budgetary constraints.
- Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate them into menu development to attract and retain a diverse customer base.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional growth for all kitchen staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to kitchen staff to maintain a high level of performance and productivity.
- Represent the university at culinary events and conferences, showcasing the excellence of our dining establishments and promoting the university's brand.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and pricing to ensure the best quality and value for the university.
- Attend regular meetings with university officials to provide updates on dining operations, address any concerns, and make recommendations for improvement.
Extensive Culinary Experience: A Sr. Executive Chef At University Of California, Berkeley Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In A Managerial Role In A High-Volume, Fast-Paced Restaurant Or Catering Operation.
Strong Leadership Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Excellent Leadership Qualities And The Ability To Manage And Motivate A Large Team Of Chefs, Cooks, And Other Kitchen Staff.
Menu Development And Management: The Sr. Executive Chef Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Creating Innovative And Diverse Menus, As Well As The Ability To Manage Menu Costs, Inventory, And Food Waste.
Knowledge Of Food Safety And Sanitation Standards: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Food Safety Regulations And Be Responsible For Ensuring That All Kitchen Staff Adhere To Proper Sanitation Practices.
