  1. Develop and implement innovative menus and dining concepts that align with the mission and values of the University of California, Berkeley.
  2. Lead and mentor a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food production and exceptional customer service.
  3. Oversee the daily operations of multiple dining establishments on campus, including menu planning, food preparation, and inventory management.
  4. Maintain a high standard of food safety and sanitation in all kitchen and dining areas, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  5. Collaborate with other departments on campus to create special event menus and catered meals for university functions.
  6. Monitor food costs and ensure that all dining establishments operate within budgetary constraints.
  7. Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate them into menu development to attract and retain a diverse customer base.
  8. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional growth for all kitchen staff.
  9. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to kitchen staff to maintain a high level of performance and productivity.
  10. Represent the university at culinary events and conferences, showcasing the excellence of our dining establishments and promoting the university's brand.
  11. Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and pricing to ensure the best quality and value for the university.
  12. Attend regular meetings with university officials to provide updates on dining operations, address any concerns, and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Culinary Experience: A Sr. Executive Chef At University Of California, Berkeley Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In A Managerial Role In A High-Volume, Fast-Paced Restaurant Or Catering Operation.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Excellent Leadership Qualities And The Ability To Manage And Motivate A Large Team Of Chefs, Cooks, And Other Kitchen Staff.

  • Menu Development And Management: The Sr. Executive Chef Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Creating Innovative And Diverse Menus, As Well As The Ability To Manage Menu Costs, Inventory, And Food Waste.

  • Knowledge Of Food Safety And Sanitation Standards: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Food Safety Regulations And Be Responsible For Ensuring That All Kitchen Staff Adhere To Proper Sanitation Practices.

  • Budget Management Experience: The Sr. Executive Chef Should Have Experience In Developing And Managing Budgets For Large Operations And Be Able To Effectively Control And Reduce Costs While Maintaining High-Quality Food Standards.
