- Provide legal support to clinical faculty and students by conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case preparation.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other team members to gather information and provide updates on case progress.
- Maintain organized and accurate case files, including relevant documents and correspondence.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, organizing meetings, and managing correspondence.
- Monitor and track case deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks and filings.
- Collaborate with attorneys and other legal staff to develop case strategies and prepare for court proceedings.
- Conduct intake interviews and assist with client intake process.
- Prepare and file court documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of work.
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all legal matters.
- Assist with legal clinics and community outreach programs.
- Help train and supervise student interns and volunteers.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and procedures.
- Represent the University of California, Berkeley in a professional and positive manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervising attorneys or program directors.
Bachelor's Degree In Paralegal Studies Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience As A Paralegal In A Law Firm Or Clinical Program Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Legal Research And Writing, Including Proficiency In Lexisnexis And Westlaw.
Familiarity With Legal Procedures And Protocols, Including Court Filings And Document Management.
Excellent Organizational And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team.
