We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Lifeguard to join our Campus Recreation team and help ensure the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. - Monitor pool areas and enforce safety rules to ensure the well-being of all swimmers.
- Conduct routine inspections of pool equipment and facilities to ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Respond quickly and effectively to any emergency situations, including performing water rescues and administering first aid.
- Maintain accurate records of pool usage and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with campus community members, providing helpful and friendly customer service.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings to stay up-to-date on safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist with the planning and execution of campus events and programs related to water activities.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills by setting a positive example for other lifeguards and providing guidance and support when needed.
- Proactively identify and address potential hazards or safety concerns in and around the pool area.
- Continuously assess and improve upon safety procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all pool users.
- Collaborate with other lifeguards and campus staff to maintain a clean and organized pool area.
- Adhere to all University of California, Berkeley policies and regulations regarding lifeguarding and campus recreation.
- Maintain current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid.
Current Lifeguard Certification: The University Of California, Berkeley Requires All Lifeguard Applicants To Hold A Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, Which Includes Cpr And First Aid Training.
Experience: Previous Experience As A Lifeguard, Preferably In A Pool Or Open Water Setting, Is Preferred. Lifeguards Should Be Comfortable With Performing Water Rescues And Administering First Aid.
Strong Swimming Skills: Lifeguards At Uc Berkeley Should Be Strong Swimmers With The Ability To Swim Long Distances And Tread Water For Extended Periods Of Time. A Swim Test May Be Required During The Application Process.
Communication And Customer Service Skills: Lifeguards Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patrons And Provide Excellent Customer Service. This Includes Enforcing Rules And Regulations, Responding To Emergency Situations, And Providing Information And Assistance To Swimmers.
Availability: Lifeguards At Uc Berkeley Are Required To Work Flexible Hours, Including Evenings, Weekends, And Holidays. Applicants Should Have A Reliable Schedule And Be Able To Commit To Regular Shifts Throughout The Year.
