
Library Assistant

- Greet and welcome students, faculty, and staff to the library, providing a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Assist patrons with locating and accessing library resources, both physical and digital.
- Provide basic reference and research assistance to patrons, directing them to appropriate resources and services.
- Assist with circulation tasks such as checking out and returning materials, processing holds and requests, and collecting fines and fees.
- Maintain organization and order in the library by shelving and re-shelving books and other materials.
- Assist with library events and programs, including set-up, promotion, and attendance.
- Collaborate with other library staff to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the library.
- Keep up-to-date with library policies, procedures, and resources in order to provide accurate and helpful information to patrons.
- Assist with the training and supervision of student workers and volunteers.
- Participate in collection development by providing input on materials to be purchased and assisting with acquisition and processing of new materials.
- Maintain accurate records of library usage and statistics.
- Handle patron inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Continuously seek out ways to improve and enhance the library experience for patrons.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required to stay informed and updated on library policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment by being a team player and actively supporting colleagues.
Bachelor's Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field
Experience Working In A Library Or Academic Setting
Knowledge Of Library Systems And Cataloging Procedures
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills
Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team, With Strong Organizational And Time Management Skills
