The University of California, Berkeley's Gold Camp is looking for a Junior Counselor to join our team for the summer. As a Junior Counselor, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on campers' lives while gaining valuable experience in youth development. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow.   1. Act as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating positive behavior and values.
  2. Assist senior counselors in planning and leading outdoor activities, games, and team-building exercises.
  3. Help create a safe and inclusive environment for campers to learn and grow.
  4. Foster positive relationships with campers by being approachable and attentive to their needs.
  5. Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and other staff members.
  6. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance counseling skills.
  7. Ensure campers follow camp rules and regulations.
  8. Provide guidance and support to campers in resolving conflicts and solving problems.
  9. Monitor and promote camper safety at all times.
  10. Assist in maintaining camp facilities and equipment.
  11. Collaborate with other counselors to plan and execute special events and theme days.
  12. Maintain accurate records of camper attendance and incidents.
  13. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  14. Uphold and promote the values and mission of the Gold Camp program.
  15. Continuously strive to improve and enhance the overall camp experience for campers.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience Working With Children: A Junior Counselor At Gold Camp Should Have Prior Experience Working With Children In A Camp Or Recreational Setting. This Could Include Volunteer Work, Babysitting, Or Previous Camp Counselor Experience.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: As A Junior Counselor, It Is Important To Have Strong Leadership Skills In Order To Effectively Guide And Mentor Campers. This Includes Being Able To Communicate Effectively, Resolve Conflicts, And Lead Activities.

  • Knowledge Of Camp Activities: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Basic Understanding Of The Various Activities Offered At Gold Camp, Such As Outdoor Sports, Arts And Crafts, And Team-Building Exercises. This Will Allow Them To Assist In Planning And Leading These Activities.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: The Safety Of Campers Is Of Utmost Importance, And A Junior Counselor Should Be Trained In Cpr And First Aid In Case Of Any Emergencies. Candidates With These Certifications Will Be Given Preference.

  • Team Player: Gold Camp Is A Collaborative Environment, And A Junior Counselor Should Be Able To Work Well With Others. This Includes Being Open To Feedback, Taking Initiative, And Contributing To A Positive And Inclusive Camp Atmosphere.
