Job Description

"Calling all passionate and driven individuals! The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a dedicated Group Leader/Instructor for our prestigious Gold Camp program. As a leader of the Gold Camp team, you will have the unique opportunity to mentor and guide a diverse group of students, while also facilitating engaging and enriching activities. We are looking for dynamic individuals who possess strong leadership skills, an enthusiasm for working with youth, and a commitment to promoting a positive learning environment.   1. Lead and mentor a diverse group of students in the Gold Camp program.
  2. Plan and facilitate engaging and enriching activities for students.
  3. Act as a positive role model for students and promote a positive learning environment.
  4. Develop and implement lesson plans and curriculum for the Gold Camp program.
  5. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members.
  6. Manage and supervise a team of instructors and counselors.
  7. Foster a sense of community and teamwork among students and staff.
  8. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
  9. Evaluate and assess student progress and provide feedback to help them reach their full potential.
  10. Demonstrate strong leadership skills and set a positive example for students and staff.
  11. Collaborate with other program leaders and administrators to ensure the success of the Gold Camp program.
  12. Attend and participate in all required training and professional development opportunities.
  13. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the program and students.
  14. Uphold the values and mission of the University of California, Berkeley.
  15. Continuously strive to create a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment for students to learn and grow.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field: A Group Leader/Instructor At The Gold Camp Program Should Possess At Least A Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Subject Such As Education, Outdoor Recreation, Or Leadership. This Educational Background Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Lead And Instruct Participants.

  • Previous Experience In Leadership Or Teaching: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience In A Leadership Role Or Teaching Experience, Preferably In An Outdoor Education Setting. This Will Demonstrate The Ability To Manage And Guide A Group Of Participants Effectively.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Group Leader/Instructor, It Is Essential To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Engage With Participants And Address Any Concerns Or Issues That May Arise. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Diverse Groups And Individuals.

  • First Aid And Cpr Certification: The Safety And Well-Being Of Participants Should Be A Top Priority For A Group Leader/Instructor. Therefore, Having Current First Aid And Cpr Certification Is Necessary To Handle Any Medical Emergencies That May Occur During The Program.

  • Knowledge Of Outdoor Activities And Safety Protocols: The Gold Camp Program Involves Various Outdoor Activities, And A Group Leader/Instructor Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Activities And Safety Protocols. This Will Ensure The Safety Of Participants And Provide A Positive Experience For All Involved.
