We are currently seeking an Employee Assistance/EAP Counselor to join our team and provide essential mental health services to our faculty, staff, and their families.As an EAP Counselor, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the well-being of our community by providing confidential counseling, crisis intervention, and referral services. You will work closely with individuals to assess their needs and develop personalized treatment plans, utilizing your expertise in counseling techniques and therapeutic interventions.To be successful in this role, you must have a Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, as well as a valid license in the state of California (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC).   1. Provide confidential counseling services to faculty, staff, and their families.
  2. Conduct crisis intervention and provide referrals as needed.
  3. Collaborate with individuals to assess their needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  4. Utilize expertise in counseling techniques and therapeutic interventions to support clients.
  5. Maintain a strong understanding of mental health resources and services available on campus and in the community.
  6. Adhere to ethical and legal guidelines, ensuring confidentiality and privacy for all clients.
  7. Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of counseling services and make necessary improvements.
  8. Support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the counseling program and the larger university community.
  9. Maintain accurate and thorough client records, documentation, and reports.
  10. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  11. Attend regular trainings and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and relevant research.
  12. Collaborate with other departments and resources on campus to provide comprehensive support for clients.
  13. Communicate and collaborate with external mental health providers and resources as needed.
  14. Maintain a positive and supportive work environment for clients and colleagues.
  15. Participate in department meetings, committees, and other activities as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Counseling, Psychology, Or A Related Field, With A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Providing Counseling Services In An Employee Assistance Program (Eap) Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of And Experience With A Variety Of Mental Health Issues And Techniques For Addressing Them, Including Crisis Intervention And Brief Therapy.

  • Knowledge Of And Experience With Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Principles, Particularly In Regards To Providing Services To A Diverse Population Of Employees.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Establish Rapport And Build Trust With Clients While Maintaining Appropriate Boundaries.

  • Familiarity With And Adherence To Ethical Guidelines And State Laws Related To Counseling And Confidentiality, Including Hipaa Regulations.
