We are currently seeking a talented and highly organized Emergency Operations Planning Coordinator to join our team.As the Emergency Operations Planning Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures to protect the Berkeley community.   1. Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and security of the Berkeley community.
  2. Work closely with campus departments and stakeholders to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  3. Coordinate and conduct trainings and drills to test the effectiveness of emergency plans and to ensure all staff are prepared for emergency situations.
  4. Collaborate with local emergency response agencies to establish partnerships and ensure a coordinated response in the event of a crisis.
  5. Monitor and assess potential emergency situations, and provide recommendations for appropriate response actions.
  6. Maintain and update emergency preparedness materials, including communication protocols, evacuation plans, and emergency contact information.
  7. Act as a liaison between campus departments and outside agencies during emergency situations.
  8. Serve as a resource for staff, faculty, and students on emergency preparedness and response.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency response agencies.
  10. Keep up-to-date with current emergency management practices and make recommendations for improvement to existing plans and procedures.
  11. Maintain accurate and detailed records of emergency response plans, trainings, and drills.
  12. Lead and facilitate meetings with the Emergency Operations Committee to review and revise emergency plans and procedures.
  13. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to emergency management.
  14. Participate in the development and execution of crisis communication strategies.
  15. Provide timely and accurate reports on emergency preparedness and response activities to senior management.
  16. Respond to emergency situations as needed and provide on-site support and coordination.
  17. Act as a point of contact for any emergency-related inquiries from the media or general public.
  18. Mentally and physically prepared to respond to emergencies at any time, including outside of normal working hours.
  19. Promote a culture of emergency preparedness and safety within the Berkeley community.
  20. Represent UC Berkeley at local, state, and national emergency management conferences and events.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Emergency Operations Planning And Coordination, Preferably In A Higher Education Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Emergency Management Principles And Best Practices, Including Nims And Ics.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated Experience In Developing And Implementing Emergency Plans, Conducting Exercises And Drills, And Managing Response To Actual Emergencies.
