  • Operate university buses in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and university policies
  • Maintain a clean and organized bus interior, ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with passengers, providing information and assistance as needed
  • Follow designated routes and schedules, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate changes or delays
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure proper functioning and report any issues to the appropriate authorities
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with disabilities or special needs
  • Maintain accurate records of passenger counts and fares collected, and handle cash and credit card transactions with integrity
  • Respond promptly and professionally to any incidents or emergencies that may arise during transit, following established procedures
  • Attend regular trainings and meetings to stay updated on university policies, procedures, and safety protocols
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all passengers, representing the university in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Collaborate with other members of the transportation department to ensure the smooth operation of the bus service.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Cdl License: The Candidate Must Possess A Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl) With A Passenger Endorsement, Allowing Them To Operate A Bus With More Than 16 Passengers.

  • Clean Driving Record: A Candidate Must Have A Clean Driving Record With No Major Traffic Violations In The Past Five Years To Ensure The Safety Of Passengers.

  • Experience Operating Large Vehicles: Previous Experience Operating Large Vehicles Such As Buses Or Other Commercial Vehicles Is Preferred To Demonstrate The Candidate's Ability To Handle The Responsibilities Of The Job.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Bus Operator, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Not Only Driving The Bus But Also Communicating With Passengers, Dispatchers, And Other Staff Members. Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For The Role.

  • Customer Service Experience: The University Of Arkansas Values Excellent Customer Service, And The Candidate Must Have Experience In Providing Exceptional Service To Passengers. This Includes Being Courteous, Helpful, And Professional At All Times.
