Job Description

  1. Develop and implement a strategic vision for research and innovation at the University of Arizona.
  2. Oversee all research activities and initiatives across the university, including identifying new areas for growth and investment.
  3. Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration among faculty, staff, and students to drive groundbreaking discoveries.
  4. Identify and secure external funding opportunities for research projects and initiatives.
  5. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards in research.
  6. Establish and maintain strong partnerships with industry, government agencies, and other academic institutions to advance research and innovation.
  7. Provide support and guidance to faculty and researchers in developing competitive grant proposals and securing funding.
  8. Oversee the management and allocation of research resources and budgets.
  9. Lead efforts to commercialize research findings and promote entrepreneurship within the university community.
  10. Serve as a spokesperson for the university's research and innovation efforts, representing the institution at conferences, meetings, and other events.
  11. Collaborate with other senior leaders to integrate research and innovation into the overall strategic goals of the university.
  12. Stay updated on current trends and advancements in research and innovation and implement best practices at the university.
  13. Mentor and develop a team of research administrators and staff.
  14. Foster a diverse and inclusive research environment that promotes equity and fairness.
  15. Collaborate with other university departments to promote interdisciplinary research and innovation initiatives.

Job Qualifications

  • A Phd In A Relevant Field, Such As Science, Engineering, Or Technology, With A Strong Track Record Of Research And Innovation.

  • Extensive Experience In Academic Leadership, With A Proven Record Of Success In Developing And Implementing Strategic Research Initiatives.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Secure And Manage Large Research Grants And Funding, As Well As Establish Partnerships And Collaborations With Industry And Other Institutions.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Engage And Inspire Faculty, Students, And Other Stakeholders In Research And Innovation Efforts.
