  1. Provide expert legal advice and counsel to the university on a wide range of matters including but not limited to contracts, policies, regulations, and compliance issues.
  2. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to ensure university practices and policies are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  3. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements on behalf of the university, ensuring they are legally sound and in the best interest of the university.
  4. Represent the university in legal proceedings, including but not limited to litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  5. Stay up-to-date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the university and advise accordingly.
  6. Collaborate with various departments within the university to develop and implement legal strategies and solutions.
  7. Work closely with the General Counsel and other members of the legal team to ensure legal compliance and mitigate legal risks.
  8. Provide training and guidance to university staff and faculty on legal matters, including but not limited to intellectual property, employment law, and student affairs.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards in all legal matters.
  10. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, outside counsel, and other institutions.
  11. Participate in university committees and task forces related to legal matters.
  12. Manage and prioritize a high volume of legal matters, including responding to urgent and time-sensitive requests.
  13. Act as a liaison between the university and outside counsel as needed.
  14. Support the General Counsel in other legal matters and projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.

  • Admission To Practice Law In The State Of Arizona.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, Preferably In A Higher Education Or Academic Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Federal And State Laws And Regulations Related To Higher Education, Including Title Ix, Ferpa, And Ada.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Advise And Interact With University Administrators, Faculty, Staff, And Students.
