
Animal Technician

- Provide excellent care and welfare for research animals according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns or changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Prepare and administer food, water, and medications as directed.
- Clean and disinfect animal cages, equipment, and facilities to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal care and procedures.
- Assist with animal handling and restraint for research procedures.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, students, and other team members to ensure the proper care and use of animals.
- Provide support for research projects by assisting with the setup and maintenance of animal housing and equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure the well-being of both animals and staff.
- Participate in training and continuing education to stay up-to-date on best practices and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to improve animal care.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with regulations.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the University of Arizona and the Animal Technician team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree In Animal Science, Biology, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Laboratory Animals In A Research Or Academic Setting.
Knowledge Of Animal Care And Handling Techniques, Including Proper Restraint And Administration Of Treatments And Medications.
Ability To Maintain Accurate Records And Follow Protocols For Animal Care And Husbandry.
Familiarity With Federal Regulations And Guidelines For Laboratory Animal Care, Including Iacuc Protocols And Aaalac Accreditation.
