- Maintain a clean and sterile environment by properly cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing medical equipment and supplies.
- Follow established protocols and guidelines for handling, storing, and transporting sterile items.
- Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to infection control and safety procedures to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of sterile supplies to various departments.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment, and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Document and maintain accurate records of all sterilization processes and activities.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards related to sterile processing, including but not limited to OSHA, CDC, and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and education programs to stay updated on new techniques and technologies related to sterile processing.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective operations within the facility.
Certification In Sterile Processing: A Successful Candidate For A Sterile Processing Tech Job At Universal Health Services Should Possess A Valid Certification In Sterile Processing, Such As A Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Or A Certified Sterile Processing And Distribution Technician (Cspdt).
Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Sterilization Techniques, Such As Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilization. They Should Also Have Knowledge Of The Different Types Of Medical Instruments And Equipment Used In A Healthcare Setting.
Attention To Detail: As A Sterile Processing Tech, Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Ensure That All Instruments And Equipment Are Properly Cleaned, Sterilized, And Stored. The Candidate Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures.
