Job Description

  1. Perform vascular access procedures, including but not limited to: peripheral IV placement, PICC line insertion, and central line maintenance.
  2. Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans for patients requiring specialized vascular access services.
  3. Monitor and document patient response to vascular access procedures and make necessary adjustments to care plan.
  4. Educate patients and their families on vascular access procedures, care, and maintenance.
  5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation of all procedures performed.
  7. Adhere to all hospital policies, protocols, and guidelines in the provision of patient care.
  8. Stay current on advancements and best practices in vascular access procedures and participate in continuing education opportunities.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide exceptional patient-centered care.
  10. Facilitate a safe and comfortable environment for patients undergoing vascular access procedures.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
  12. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  13. Act as a resource for other team members regarding vascular access procedures and best practices.
  14. Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and empathy towards patients and their families.
  15. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure timely and efficient delivery of care.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  17. Respond to emergency situations and provide necessary interventions.
  18. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in patient care.
  19. Participate in performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  20. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution: This Educational Requirement Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice. It Also Demonstrates The Candidate's Commitment To Ongoing Learning And Professional Development.

  • Valid Rn License In The State Of Practice: A Registered Nurse Must Hold A Current And Valid License In The State Where They Will Be Working. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Requirements And Is Legally Eligible To Practice Nursing In That State.

  • Certification In Vascular Access: Candidates For This Position Should Possess A Certification In Vascular Access, Such As The Crni (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) Or Va-Bc (Vascular Access-Board Certified) Credential. This Certification Demonstrates Specialized Knowledge And Skills In This Specific Area Of Nursing Practice.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Vascular Access: Universal Health Services Is Seeking Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Vascular Access. This Experience Should Include A Variety Of Settings Such As Hospitals, Clinics, Or Home Health Care, To Ensure The Candidate Is Well-Rounded And Capable Of Handling Different Situations.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: As A Registered Nurse In Vascular Access, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And A Multidisciplinary Team Of Healthcare Professionals. Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For Providing Effective And Efficient Care, As Well As Promoting A Positive Work Environment.
