
Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

- Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals with behavioral health needs.
- Utilize strong nursing skills and knowledge to assess, plan, and implement patient care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies.
- Monitor and document patient progress and communicate any changes or concerns to the treatment team.
- Conduct patient and family education to promote understanding of mental health conditions and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and comply with all documentation requirements.
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with patients, families, and team members.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to make sound decisions and effectively handle emergencies.
- Remain current on best practices and advancements in behavioral health treatment.
- Act as an advocate for patients and provide support and guidance during their treatment journey.
- Display a positive and professional attitude while working with a diverse patient population.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for patients' rights and privacy.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
Valid Rn License: A Registered Nurse Must Possess A Current And Active Rn License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met The Necessary Educational And Competency Requirements To Provide Safe And Effective Care To Patients.
Specialized Experience In Behavioral Health: In Addition To A General Rn License, Uhs May Require Specific Experience In Behavioral Health Or Psychiatric Nursing. This Could Include Experience Working In A Mental Health Facility, Substance Abuse Treatment Center, Or Other Related Setting.
Advanced Education Or Certifications: Many Positions At Uhs May Require Additional Education Or Certifications In The Field Of Behavioral Health. This Could Include A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Psychiatric Nursing, As Well As Certifications In Specialties Such As Addiction Nursing Or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
Strong Assessment And Communication Skills: Behavioral Health Nursing Requires A High Level Of Critical Thinking And Communication Skills. Rns At Uhs Must Be Able To Assess And Monitor Patients For Changes In Mental Status, Communicate Effectively With Patients And Their Families, And Collaborate With Other Members Of The Healthcare Team.
Ability To Handle High-Stress Situations: Working In A Behavioral Health Setting Can Be Emotionally Demanding And Requires The Ability To Cope With High-Stress Situations. Uhs May Look For Candidates Who Have Experience In Managing Challenging Patient Behaviors, As Well As The Ability To Remain Calm And Composed In Difficult Situations.
