  1. Develop and implement therapeutic recreational activities for patients with mental health and addiction issues.
  2. Conduct assessments and create individualized treatment plans for patients based on their needs and interests.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and progress notes.
  5. Provide support and guidance to patients during recreational activities, promoting a positive and safe environment.
  6. Educate patients and their families on the benefits of recreational therapy and how it can aid in their recovery.
  7. Stay current on industry trends and research to continuously improve and enhance recreational therapy programs.
  8. Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary.
  9. Foster and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and staff members.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards related to patient care and confidentiality.
  11. Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to develop treatment goals and strategies.
  12. Attend training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  13. Assist in the planning and execution of special events and outings for patients.
  14. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
  15. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times, representing Universal Health Services in a positive light.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Therapy Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Recreation Therapy Is Essential For This Role. A Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Therapy Or A Related Field Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Plan And Implement Therapeutic Activities For Individuals With Various Physical, Mental, And Emotional Disabilities.

  • Certification In Recreation Therapy: Most Employers Prefer Candidates Who Are Certified By The National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification (Nctrc). This Certification Ensures That The Individual Has Met The Required Standards For Knowledge And Competency In The Field Of Recreation Therapy.

  • Experience Working With Diverse Populations: Universal Health Services Serves A Diverse Population Of Patients, Including Those With Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Disorders, And Substance Abuse Issues. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Different Populations And A Strong Understanding Of Their Needs And Challenges.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Recreation Therapist, You Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For Building Rapport, Establishing Trust, And Effectively Collaborating With Others.

  • Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Therapeutic Techniques And Interventions: A Successful Recreation Therapist Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Evidence-Based Therapeutic Techniques And Interventions. This Includes Knowledge Of Various Recreational Activities, Such As Sports, Arts And Crafts, Music, And Outdoor Activities, And How They Can Be Adapted To Meet The Specific Needs Of Individuals With Disabilities.
