- Transport patients to and from various locations within the facility, including examination rooms, treatment areas, and diagnostic imaging centers.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during transportation by using proper lifting and transferring techniques, as well as providing any necessary assistance.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare staff to coordinate transportation needs and address any concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including keeping wheelchairs and other equipment sanitized and in good working condition.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition or behavior during transportation, and promptly notify appropriate healthcare staff.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as safety regulations, to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with other team members, such as nurses, physicians, and other transporters, to ensure efficient and timely patient transport.
- Attend and participate in training and educational programs to stay updated on proper protocols and procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, religious, and emotional needs of patients.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Patient Transporter At Universal Health Services Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Individual Has A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Their Role In The Healthcare System.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Patient Transporters Are Often Required To Assist In Emergency Situations, So Having A Current Bls Certification Is Crucial. This Certification Shows That The Individual Is Trained In Basic Life-Saving Techniques And Is Able To Handle Unexpected Medical Situations.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Or Other Healthcare Facility Is Preferred For A Patient Transporter Role At Universal Health Services. This Experience Helps The Individual Understand The Dynamics Of A Healthcare Environment And The Importance Of Patient Care.
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: Patient Transporters Must Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Staff On A Daily Basis. Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills Are Essential To Ensure A Positive Experience For Patients And Their Families.
Physical Fitness And Ability To Lift/Move Patients: Patient Transporters May Be Required To Move Patients Who Are Unable To Move Themselves. This Requires Physical Strength And Stamina, As Well As The Ability To Follow Proper Lifting And Transferring Techniques To Ensure Patient Safety.
