Job Description

Welcome to Universal Health Services, where we are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Transporter in our Diagnostic Imaging department for either morning or evening shifts. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of our patients throughout the hospital. As a Transporter, you will play a vital role in creating a positive patient experience and assisting in the overall flow of our busy hospital.   1. Safely transport patients to and from various areas of the hospital, including diagnostic imaging procedures, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  2. Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during transportation, including proper positioning and securing of patients in wheelchairs or stretchers.
  3. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion while interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  4. Follow established protocols and procedures for patient transport, including proper hand hygiene and infection control measures.
  5. Communicate effectively with department staff, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient transport and ensure efficient patient flow.
  6. Monitor patient condition and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation of patient transport activities, including time, destination, and any other necessary information.
  8. Adhere to all safety regulations and policies to ensure the well-being of patients and staff during transport.
  9. Assist with other departmental tasks as needed, such as stocking supplies and equipment and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  10. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For Most Patient Transport Positions Is A High School Diploma Or Ged. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Communication Skills Necessary For The Job.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not Always Required, Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting Can Be Highly Beneficial For A Patient Transport Position. It Demonstrates An Understanding Of Hospital Protocols, Equipment, And Patient Care.

  • Knowledge Of Diagnostic Imaging Procedures: For A Transport Position In A Diagnostic Imaging Department, Knowledge Of Imaging Procedures And Equipment Is Essential. This Can Include Experience With X-Rays, Mri, Ct Scans, And Ultrasound.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: Patient Transporters Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Staff. They Must Also Possess Excellent Customer Service Skills To Provide A Positive Experience For Patients During Their Transport.

  • Physical Ability And Stamina: Patient Transporters Must Be Able To Lift And Move Patients Safely And Efficiently. Therefore, Physical Abilities Such As Strength And Stamina Are Important Qualifications For This Job. Additionally, Transporters May Need To Push Patients In Wheelchairs Or Stretchers For Extended Periods, So Physical Fitness Is Necessary.
