  1. Provide direct patient care: The primary responsibility of a Patient Care Tech/CNA in our Oncology unit is to provide direct care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. This includes assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and administering medication as directed.
  2. Maintain patient comfort and safety: It is the responsibility of the Patient Care Tech/CNA to ensure that patients are comfortable and safe at all times. This may involve responding to patient needs, providing emotional support, and addressing any concerns or complaints.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team: Our Patient Care Techs/CNAs work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including nurses, doctors, and therapists. It is their responsibility to communicate effectively and collaborate with these team members to ensure the best possible care for patients.
  4. Document and report patient information: Patient Care Techs/CNAs are responsible for accurately documenting and reporting patient information, such as vital signs, medication administration, and any changes in patient condition. This information is crucial for healthcare providers to make informed decisions about patient care.
  5. Assist with procedures: In the oncology unit, Patient Care Techs/CNAs may be responsible for assisting with procedures and treatments, such as chemotherapy administration or blood transfusions. They must follow proper protocols and ensure the safety and comfort of the patient during these procedures.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized environment: Patient Care Techs/CNAs are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment in the oncology unit. This includes sanitizing equipment, restocking supplies, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  7. Provide emotional support: Patients undergoing treatment for cancer may experience a range of emotions, and it is the responsibility of the Patient Care Tech/CNA to provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  8. Adhere to safety and infection control protocols: Patient Care Techs/CNAs must adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) License: The Candidate Must Hold A Valid Cna License From The State In Which They Will Be Working. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Completed The Necessary Training And Has The Required Skills To Provide Patient Care.

  • Oncology Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Previous Experience Working In An Oncology Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Cancer Treatments, Side Effects, And Patient Care Protocols Specific To Oncology Patients.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: The Candidate Should Be Certified In Bls, Which Includes Cpr And Other Life-Saving Techniques. This Is Important In Case Of Emergencies And To Ensure The Safety Of Patients.

  • Strong Communication Skills: The Candidate Should Have Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills. This Is Crucial For Effectively Communicating With Patients, Their Families, And The Healthcare Team.

  • Ability To Work Day Shifts And Full-Time: The Candidate Should Be Available To Work During The Day And For A Full-Time Schedule. This May Include Weekends And Holidays, As Oncology Patient Care Is Often A 24/7 Responsibility. Flexibility In Scheduling May Also Be Required.
