Job Description

As a Patient Accounts Representative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for our patients while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.   1. Accurately maintain patient accounts: The Patient Accounts Representative will be responsible for accurately maintaining patient accounts by recording and updating patient information, charges, payments, and adjustments.
  2. Create and submit insurance claims: The representative will be responsible for creating and submitting insurance claims to ensure timely and accurate billing for patients. This includes verifying insurance information, obtaining authorizations, and following up on any denials or rejections.
  3. Handle patient inquiries: The representative will be the main point of contact for patients regarding their accounts. They will be responsible for answering inquiries, addressing concerns, and providing exceptional customer service.
  4. Ensure compliance with regulations: The Patient Accounts Representative will be responsible for staying up-to-date on healthcare regulations and ensuring compliance with billing and coding guidelines to avoid any legal or financial penalties.
  5. Maintain confidentiality: The representative will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of patient information and adhering to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
  6. Collaborate with other departments: The representative will work closely with other departments, such as billing, coding, and clinical staff, to ensure accurate and timely billing and resolve any account discrepancies.
  7. Process payments: The representative will be responsible for processing patient payments, posting them to the correct accounts, and reconciling any discrepancies.
  8. Monitor accounts receivable: The representative will be responsible for monitoring accounts receivable and following up on any unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely payment.
  9. Document and report any issues: The representative will be responsible for documenting any issues or concerns and reporting them to the appropriate department or supervisor for resolution.
  10. Participate in training and development: The Patient Accounts Representative will be responsible for participating in ongoing training and development to stay updated on industry changes and improve job performance.
  11. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor: The representative will be the first point of contact for patients and must maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times, representing the values and mission of Universal Health Services.
