  1. Conduct lymphedema assessments and create personalized treatment plans for patients.
  2. Use various therapeutic techniques and modalities to treat lymphedema symptoms and improve patient outcomes.
  3. Educate patients and their families on lymphedema management and self-care techniques.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
  5. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including progress notes and treatment plans.
  6. Stay up-to-date on the latest research and techniques in lymphedema treatment.
  7. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  8. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients as they navigate their lymphedema treatment.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  10. Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  11. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
  13. Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  14. Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  15. Continuously evaluate and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and goals.
  16. Collaborate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations for treatment.
  17. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of new treatment strategies and protocols.
  18. Demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care and improving patient outcomes.
  19. Maintain a positive and compassionate attitude towards patients and their families.
  20. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Formal Training And Certification: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Physical Therapy Or Occupational Therapy, As Well As Specialized Training In Lymphedema Therapy Techniques, Such As Complete Decongestive Therapy (Cdt), Is Required For This Role. Candidates Must Also Hold Certification From The Lymphology Association Of North America (Lana) Or A Similar Organization.

  • Clinical Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Clinical Experience Working With Patients With Lymphedema. This May Include Experience In Acute Care, Outpatient, Or Rehabilitation Settings.

  • Knowledge Of Lymphatic System And Related Conditions: A Strong Understanding Of The Lymphatic System And Its Role In The Body, As Well As Knowledge Of Various Conditions That Can Lead To Lymphedema, Such As Cancer, Surgery, And Trauma, Is Essential For This Role.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Lymphedema Therapists Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Educate Patients About Their Condition And Treatment Plan, As Well As Collaborate With Other Members Of The Healthcare Team.

  • Compassion And Empathy: Dealing With Lymphedema Can Be Emotionally And Physically Challenging For Patients, So It Is Important For A Lymphedema Therapist To Have A Compassionate And Empathetic Approach. This Includes Being Able To Provide Emotional Support And Understanding To Patients, As Well As Being Sensitive To Their Needs And Concerns.
