  1. Oversee the management and organization of critical health information to ensure accuracy, security, and accessibility of patient records.
  2. Utilize strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team of HIM professionals.
  3. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to health information management.
  4. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain the integrity of patient records.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless integration of patient records across different departments and systems.
  6. Monitor and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of health information management.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as government agencies and insurance companies, to ensure timely and accurate exchange of health information.
  8. Train and educate staff on proper procedures for handling and maintaining health information.
  9. Implement and maintain electronic health records systems and ensure their proper use and functionality.
  10. Develop and manage budgets for the HIM department.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the HIM department and other departments within the organization.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
  13. Ensure compliance with all privacy and security regulations related to health information management.
  14. Represent the organization at industry conferences and events to stay informed on the latest advancements and developments in HIM.
  15. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the HIM team.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree Is Typically Required For A Director Of Him Position. This Degree Should Be In A Relevant Field Such As Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Or Health Administration.

  • Certification In Health Information Management: Most Employers Prefer Candidates Who Are Certified In Health Information Management, Such As The Registered Health Information Administrator (Rhia) Or Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit) Certifications. These Certifications Demonstrate A Thorough Understanding Of The Field And A Commitment To Staying Current With Industry Standards.

  • Experience In A Leadership Role: A Director Of Him Must Have Previous Experience In A Leadership Or Managerial Role. This Could Include Experience As A Department Manager, Team Lead, Or Supervisor In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance: The Director Of Him Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance Standards, Such As Hipaa And Medicare/Medicaid Guidelines. This Knowledge Is Essential For Ensuring The Organization's Health Information Management Practices Are In Compliance With Legal And Ethical Standards.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Director Of Him Is Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Health Information Management Professionals, As Well As Collaborating With Other Healthcare Professionals And External Stakeholders. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary For Effectively Leading And Working With Others.
