This critical role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our cancer registry data, which is used to track and monitor patient outcomes, inform research studies, and guide treatment decisions.   1. Accurately collect and enter data related to cancer diagnoses, treatment, and outcomes into the cancer registry database.
  2. Conduct regular audits to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the data in the cancer registry.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to gather necessary information and resolve discrepancies in the data.
  4. Stay up-to-date on changes in cancer coding and reporting guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  5. Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to cancer care, such as patient survival rates and treatment effectiveness.
  6. Assist with research studies and data analysis by providing accurate and timely data from the cancer registry.
  7. Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  8. Participate in training and educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to cancer registry abstraction.
  9. Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the cancer registry data.
  10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of cancer care by identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations for process changes.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr) Credential From The National Cancer Registrars Association (Ncra) Or Equivalent Certification From An Accredited Organization.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management, Medical Record Administration, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Cancer Registry Abstraction, Preferably In An Acute Care Hospital Setting.

  • Proficiency In Icd-10-Cm, Cpt, And Seer Coding Systems.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Work Independently With Minimal Supervision.
