- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Repair and replace faulty components and parts as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify and implement process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Mechanical Maintenance Technician At United States Steel Must Have At Least A High School Education Or Equivalent To Ensure A Basic Level Of Technical Knowledge And Problem-Solving Skills.
Relevant Technical Degree Or Certification: A Degree In Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Or A Related Field, Or A Certification In A Specific Mechanical Maintenance Skill (Such As Welding Or Machining) Is Highly Preferred For This Role.
Previous Experience In A Manufacturing Or Industrial Setting: United States Steel Is A Large Steel Production Company, So Experience In A Similar Environment With Heavy Machinery And Equipment Is Important For A Mechanical Maintenance Technician.
Strong Mechanical Aptitude And Troubleshooting Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Mechanical Systems And Be Able To Quickly Diagnose And Troubleshoot Issues To Keep Production Running Smoothly.
Ability To Work In A Physically Demanding And Fast-Paced Environment: This Role Requires Physical Strength And Stamina, As Well As The Ability To Work Efficiently Under Pressure To Meet Production Demands. Candidates Should Be Able To Work On Their Feet For Long Periods Of Time And Lift Heavy Objects.
