Experience Operating Heavy Equipment: A Qualified Candidate For A Heavy Equipment Operator Position At United States Steel Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Operating Heavy Equipment, Specifically Forklifts Weighing 30,000 Lbs Or More. This Experience Should Include A Variety Of Tasks Such As Loading And Unloading Materials, Transporting Heavy Loads, And Maneuvering In Tight Spaces.
Forklift Certification: In Addition To Experience, A Heavy Equipment Operator Should Also Have A Valid Forklift Certification. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training On The Safe Operation Of Forklifts And Is Knowledgeable About Osha Regulations And Safety Protocols.
Physical Strength And Stamina: Operating A Heavy Forklift Requires Physical Strength And Stamina. Candidates Should Be Able To Lift And Move Heavy Loads, As Well As Perform Repetitive Tasks For Extended Periods Of Time. A Pre-Employment Physical Assessment May Be Required To Ensure The Candidate Is Physically Capable Of Performing The Job Duties.
Attention To Detail: A Heavy Equipment Operator Must Have A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure The Safe And Efficient Operation Of The Forklift.
