  1. Develop and implement transportation plans to optimize train schedules and routes.
  2. Analyze data and make recommendations for improving transportation efficiency and safety.
  3. Collaborate with various departments, including operations, engineering, and dispatch, to ensure smooth and timely movement of trains and freight.
  4. Monitor and track train movements to identify potential issues and proactively address them.
  5. Conduct research and stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulations to inform transportation planning decisions.
  6. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate transportation plans and progress to stakeholders.
  7. Utilize computer software and tools to assist with transportation planning and analysis.
  8. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance transportation operations.
  9. Communicate and coordinate with external stakeholders, such as customers and suppliers, to facilitate the transportation of goods.
  10. Comply with all safety regulations and procedures to ensure the safe movement of trains and freight.
  11. Train and mentor junior transportation planners to build a strong and knowledgeable team.
  12. Collaborate with other transportation planners to share best practices and continuously improve processes.
  13. Act as a liaison between Union Pacific Railroad and government agencies regarding transportation regulations and compliance.
  14. Prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  15. Keep accurate records and documentation of transportation plans and decisions.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Transportation Planning, Preferably In The Railroad Industry.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Transportation Regulations And Policies.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Abilities.
