  1. Inspecting and maintaining signal equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations of trains.
  2. Troubleshooting and repairing any signal system malfunctions.
  3. Conducting regular inspections of signal equipment to identify and address potential issues.
  4. Following all safety protocols and procedures while working on signal equipment.
  5. Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on signal systems.
  6. Collaborating with other team members to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance tasks.

  8. Communicating any safety concerns or issues to the appropriate personnel.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Electrical And Electronics Systems: A Signal Maintainer Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Electrical And Electronics Systems Including Wiring, Circuitry, And Troubleshooting Techniques.

  • Experience With Railroad Signals: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working With Railroad Signals, Including Installation, Maintenance, And Repair. This Includes Familiarity With Signal Equipment Such As Switch Machines, Track Circuits, And Signal Heads.

  • Ability To Read Technical Drawings And Blueprints: Signal Maintainers Must Be Able To Read And Interpret Technical Drawings And Blueprints To Accurately Install And Maintain Signal Systems.

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude: The Job Of A Signal Maintainer Requires The Ability To Work With Various Hand And Power Tools, As Well As The Physical Strength And Dexterity To Perform Tasks Such As Climbing And Lifting.

  • Safety Consciousness: Safety Is A Top Priority At Union Pacific Railroad, And Signal Maintainers Must Adhere To All Safety Protocols And Procedures To Ensure The Safe Operation Of Signal Systems. Candidates Should Have A Strong Safety Mindset And The Ability To Identify And Mitigate Potential Hazards.
